The VA funding fee is a standard cost on most VA loans, but veterans receiving compensation for a service-connected disability are generally exempt from it.
If a disability rating was awarded after you closed, there may also be a path to a refund. It's a benefit a surprising number of eligible veterans never claim. Eligibility is documented through your Certificate of Eligibility and VA records.
Confirming exemption status up front, and chasing a refund if you were rated after closing, is part of getting your file right. We check this on every veteran file.
